2012 BMW M5

Just a few months before the official debut of the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW decided it was time to reveal the official specifications for the fifth-generation sedan M5 sports. After seeing the first version of the concept of the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, now we can see the M5 in all its glory. And we are sure like what we see.

M5 name was first used in 1984, but since then, the car turned into a sedan impressive that combines the potential of a track with a comprehensive practical luxury sedan business. The new generation brings a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo package, which provides an impressive 560 hp at 6000 - 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 502 Nm at 1500 rpm. The model will sprint from 0 to 60 miles / h in 4.4 seconds, and when the speed limiter is removed, is capable of hitting an impressive top speed of 190 miles / h. Despite these impressive performance numbers, the machine will deliver estimated fuel economy of 28.5 miles per gallon.

It seems that with the new M5, BMW tried to repair all the damage made by 5-Series. If a standard sedan is not impressed by the M version does exactly the opposite. It comes with dynamic proportions and stylish authoritative view that was strengthened by the addition of M-design features.

Before the BMW is a clear indication that the power lies under the hood. Hood determined by the usual brand V contour lines and double-kidney grille ends and three air intake at the bottom of the front bumper emphasize the need for cooling air into the engine behind bars.

Moving towards the M5, you'll see two side air intakes with fast curved shape, is located where once the fog lights. The car will sit on a new set of 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design. There is also a wide range of chrome and a free-floating look of an indicator bar that bears the logo of M and gives the consumption of extremely deep-set look. The mirror housing painted in body color car, while the base of the mirror and the bottom edge are painted glossy black.

The rear custom rear bumper diffuser integrated into the lower edge of the rear bumper, and, of course, a double pipe exhaust system. The exhaust pipes are widely to both sides of the diffuser and an aerodynamically shaped and surrounds.

For the first time the company used BMW M5 turbo engine. High-revving 4.4 liter V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology offers a total of 560 hp at 6000 - 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 502 Nm from 1500 to 5750 revolutions per minute. Rev limiter intervenes at 7200 rpm. Compared with the engine it replaces, this means an increase in output by about 10%, while maximum torque has increased by 30%.

With this impressive output under the hood, the new M5 will accelerate from 0 to 60 miles / h in 4.4 seconds, up to 124 miles / hour in 13.0 seconds and a top speed limited to 155 miles / h. But as soon as you removed the limiter you will enjoy speeds up to 190 miles / hr

The new BMW M5 is equipped as standard with Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start-Stop function, which automatically shuts down the engine when the car is stopped at intersections or in traffic jams.

The engine will be paired with a dual-clutch seven-speed, which sends power to the rear wheels. As in the automatic mode (D) and manual (S), it provides an exceptionally fast, clean shifting. Transmission offers consistent pattern of displacement for manual shifting. In addition, the driver can change gears manually using the standard shift paddles fitted on the steering wheel - right paddle for upshifts and downshifts to the left shoulder.

Just a few days after the official launch of BMW, TeamSpeed reported that the 2012 BMW M5 has just become the fastest sedan around the Nürburgring race track with an impressive time of 7:55. With this new time, M5 is placed above the model, as Porsche Panamera Turbo (7:56) and Cadillac CTS-V (7:59). This is a new lap time also corresponds to the "Ring of time Ferrari F430.

Record the circle was completed by the driver BMW, but do not put in the record books just yet. In fact, an informal time, of course, to be followed by the real things in the near future.

BMW M5 next take on models like the Jaguar XF-R, Cadillac CTS-V, and the Audi S6.

Jaguar XF-R, of course, has its advantages. It is more elegant and luxurious than the BMW M5 with a good amount of aggressiveness in its design. This can only be powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that pumps out 510 hp, but these and other factors may influence some votes in the direction of Jaguar.

Cadillac CTS-V also has a lot of areas in the U.S. market, and not without reason. Firstly, it is cheap compared to other models - it starts at $ 64,290 - and it also has a very impressive 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine 556 hp and 551 Nm of torque.

The interior still sports the same design language created by appearance, he will receive the M sport seats, fine Merino leather upholstery with enhanced capabilities, door sills with "M5" inscription, footrest Driver M, exclusive aluminum trace salon strip and roof BMW Individual liner in Anthracite. Standard equipment will include the iDrive control system with up to 10.2-inch screen controls.

The buttons on the steering wheel allow the disc to work with cruise control and audio and telephone functions. On the left wheel spoke, the driver will now find two buttons M Drive, which can be used to adjust the car. For example, the driver can keep a sports setting with "M1" and the comfort-biased setup by "M2" button.
